St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Addition
Project Type
Architectural rendering, sustainable design, research
Date
2017 - Present
Location
Washington, D.C.
St. Anthony Catholic Church does not currently have ADA-compliant facilities or baby-changing tables. While the church has bathrooms inside, they are poorly placed — adjacent to the altar. This location deters the congregation from using the restrooms during Holy Mass for fear of causing a disruption. Because of this, seniors soil themselves, and parents resort to taking their young children outside.
The focus of this project is to improve accessibility for people with disabilities while using sustainable design principles to address the building's current deficiencies. We are conducting site analysis for an addition to the church, informed by environmental factors via building performance analytics.
